Hiroji Iwata, MD, PhD

Dr. Iwata is Vice Director and Chief of Breast Oncology at Aichi Cancer Center Hospital, He is also a Clinical Professor at Nagoya City University Medical School.
He was awarded his MD degree at Nagoya City University and a PhD in Medical Science at the same institution. His PhD thesis was on Analyses of Matrix Metalloproteinases and Their Inhibitors in Human Breast Cancer Tissues.
He is a key investigator in a phase III study of adjuvant endocrine therapy with or without chemotherapy for postmenopausal breast cancer patients who responded to neoadjuvant letrozole(NEOS). He is an author of over 100 publications on a wide range of subjects in the treatment of early stage and metastatic breast cancer. He is a director of Breast Cancer Study Group in Japan Clinical Oncology Group (JCOG), a steering committee member in many global clinical trials and also the Japanese coordinating investigator in global investigator driven registration trial (Penelope study).He is the president of the 28th annual meeting of the Japanese Breast Cancer Society (2020).
